Happy March to all of my fellow foodies! Much like the fresh Spring produce that is blooming from the ground, there is something that the vibrancy of the Spring season awakens in me. I yearn for the newness that this season brings! I crave new adventures, new daily routines, new hobbies to find, but most importantly, I crave new food experiences!
Luckily, I had the opportunity to try out a very Gouda new restaurant (see what I did there) known lovingly as The Cheese Board.
Now, if you're anything like me the word "cheese" is enough to get you sold on any restaurant! So naturally, I had to give The Cheese Board a try. Located in the heart of Reno's Midtown District, it was a perfectly convenient location that was paired with a day filled with adventure. We spent the morning shopping around Virginia City and took the long way back home through Reno, just so we could stop at this gem of a restaurant! Thank goodness we did, because it did not disappoint! A word to the wise though... they are only open Monday-Friday! Which, is bad news for me as a teacher because I will likely be there an unholy amount during the summer.
May I present to you the absolute star of the show, the "big cheese" if you will... the Bistro Ham Melt. I accompanied it with classic potato chips, and a root beer (having felt the need for a sarsaparilla after a long day of western fun in V.C.). The moment I took a bite of this sandwich, all I could say was "woah". And then, nothing, because I was too busy eating this delicious sandwich. The salt from the ham is just the right amount, because it is perfectly toned down by the sweetness that comes from the grilled onions and the fresh pop of a tomato slice. It also has a generous layer of creamy aioli that is a welcome addition to the crunchy fresh spinach. In addition, the French roll was perfectly fluffy, an absolute gem when it comes to bread! And believe me, I am oddly picky when it comes to bread selection for sandwiches. Every. Single. Bite. of this sandwich had such an immense depth of flavor, that every bit was deliciously unique. I genuinely do not think I have ever enjoyed a sandwich as much as I did this one right here, a 10/10 must have!

Now on to the competition, the Jalapeño Popper Grilled Cheese. Okay, okay, this one definitely gave the previous sandwich a run for its money. But what can I say, I'm a sucker for any grilled cheese! It's hard to go wrong with carbs and cheese, but this bad boy had some serious flare to it! It gave just a whisper of heat from the jalapeño. So if you are a fan of heat, don't let the name fool you. It was in no way overwhelming. But the incredible sourdough (again, picky bread girl here) and the delicious array of cheeses there was simply no way this could disappoint. The gooey cheese that was paired with the aioli was a match made in cheese heaven!

And with that, I swiss you all the best!
