Out of This World Food, Down to Earth Restaurant

I had the pleasure of visiting one of Carson City's known hot spots for breakfast & lunch, the tried and true restaurant- Squeeze In! To say it was a fun and delicious experience would simply be an understatement. I can only describe our morning of eating amazing food and drinking tantalizing mimosas as an experience that gave me a sense of familiarity and comfort. From the eccentric atmosphere, the attentive staff, the throwback music, and of course, the incredible food that is served, they do not skip a beat when it comes to making the dining experience a memorable one.

Let's start with the most obvious, the star of the show, the F.O.O.D. As you can see, you'd better come prepared with a full appetite. The portions here are not shy, they proudly scream "hi, hello, yes I know I am fabulous and you are welcome". Remember how I mentioned the music was one of the many things Squeeze In offers for a memorable experience? Well, let me give you one example. When our food was delivered to our table, Lucky by Brittany Spears was playing in the background. Already this was a win, obviously. But it also went with our vibe because we did, indeed, feel Lucky that we had come with our appetites, otherwise would have been entirely overwhelmed.

(an actual representation of how I look up when food is brought to our table)

First up, the Chipotle Benny with a side of Otis style potatoes. Who doesn't love a good Eggs Benedict when they are done properly? Well, these are done with such precision that they are some of the best Benedicts around, in my opinion. The creaminess from the poached egg pairs so beautifully with the spicy chipotle hollandaise sauce. They also come with the perfect background flavor from the slight kick of salt in every bite from the chorizo, which has been thoughtfully dispersed into every bite. Additionally, this is all atop a beautiful sourdough English muffin bed which makes for the perfect vessel to transport every bite!

Now for the second star of our show, the Otis style potatoes. Honestly, I was tempted to do an entire post on just the potatoes alone! Cheese, potatoes, grilled onions, are you kidding me? DELICIOUS! The crunch from the crispy outside of the potatoes, yet fluffy and buttery in the middle, and the sweetness from the onions is enough to make my mouth water. My boyfriend and I both ordered Otis style potatoes as our sides, but because ya girl is boujee, I also decided I would add a side of cheese to go with the amazingly delicious Otis potatoes for mine. It was delectable and I am now certain that Otis style is the ONLY way to order their side of potatoes.

Up next is my order- the Spanish Flay! I am a fan of anything that has to do with Food Network, and Bobby Flay just so happens to be one of my favorite chefs on the network. Could it be that he has the cutest Maine Coon cat named Nacho? Possibly. Or it could be how captivated I get when I watch Beat Bobby Flay and he so effortlessly slays every time with his arsenal of culinary techniques. Either way, I was naturally captivated by the Spanish Flay, which is an ode to the one and only Mr. Flay. Additionally, Squeeze In is specifically known for their incredibly tasty omelettes, so I had to give one a try! Even though I am usually not a fan of eggs, I was beyond thrilled with my choice. The fluffiness from the eggs with the hint of parsley melded so well with the starchy bites of potato (if you have read any of my other blogs then you know just how much I enjoy an added carb). The "Flay flair" came from the delicious addition of the mildly-spicy chorizo in every bite, because Mr. Flay loves to bring the heat! Although I may have been a little disappointed that there was no Calabrian chili (iykyk) there was a beautiful addition of red bell peppers, which also added a nice texture to the dish. It was definitely a win in my book! Now, could someone at Squeeze In please call the producers at Beat Bobby Flay and challenge him to his own omelette recipe?

Lastly, our grand finale, the incredibly delicious pitcher of mimosas! Yes, you heard me, a PITCHER of mimosas. We got the Blueberry Lemonade Mimosa, because what about that doesn't scream summer in a pitcher? The tartness of the lemonade was such a playful opposite to the refreshing finish that was given by the champagne and blueberry. Needless to say it was very, very... very easy for me to drink the majority of that pitcher to myself (apologies to my boyfriend, but also shoutout to him for always being the sober driver!). As we were winding down our meal, I was asked by the amazing Carson City Squeeze In owner if there was any kind of "special" item she could bring for us to try. My only request was "anything that will look gorgeous in pictures and will taste as good as everything else!" Whitney did NOT disappoint! She brought to me the most mesmerizing mimosa of them all! It was a Glittery Peach Mimosa, filled with champagne, edible glitter, peach schnapps, and a peach slice. The fizziness of the champagne kept the glitter in a constant swirl which made drinking it completely fun AND delicious!

At this point in our meal the song "Bad Day" by Daniel Powter was playing in the background. This led me to remember my very first heartbreak at a middle school dance, where I watched my crush slow dance with someone else. My mom picked me up from the school and this was the song she played for me on the drive home. As I was telling this story to my boyfriend, and he was so lovingly sympathizing with my middle school memories, it was in that moment I realized I was more than ready to go home to have a blissful nap after a delicious food and mimosa filled morning. Thank you, Carson City Squeeze In for a morning that was successfully playful, delicious, and memorable!
